The New York Minute Gets Faster
New Yorkers are known for needing to get where they want to go and wanting to get there more quickly. Given the city’s numerous modes of transportation — from taxis to subways, trains to ferries — residents are always on the move and they don’t want to be slowed down by ticket lines or ATM stops.
With a population of 8.4 million, New York relies on many different types of transportation to move people efficiently around its 305 square miles. Visa is working with transportation agencies across New York to help commuters and tourists move around the city seamlessly. Visa is harnessing its payWave contactless technology that can be used to pay for almost any form of transportation — taxi, bus, subway, PATH train and ferry — using a Visa card or Visa payment application on a mobile phone.
