VisaNet Passes Stress Test with Flying Colors
Speed, reliability, scalability and security are cornerstones of the Visa Network. But those words mean little if they are not accurate and well-tested. Each summer, we conduct a VisaNet stress test to ensure our systems can handle volume during the busy December shopping period.
At the culmination of the annual stress test, VisaNet’s capacity was found to have doubled from 12,000 to more than 24,000 transaction messages per second. To put it in perspective, on December 23, 2010, peak transaction volume reached 11,000 transactions per second during what was the busiest minute of the year.
